Understand credits, charges and usage

Your balance, what was charged and why, and where to find invoices and saved cards.

Last updated

Your workspace has one credit balance. Plan & Billing shows what you have, what was charged and what produced it. Everyone in the workspace, Viewers included, can see these pages.

Where to look#

PageWhat it answers
Charges & usageWhat was charged, and what usage produced it
PlansMonthly plans and credit packs you can buy
Billing → OverviewYour active subscription, credit balance, latest invoice and default payment method
Billing → Credit HistoryEvery credit added or spent: top-ups, refunds, adjustments and billing settlements
Billing → Invoices & PaymentsYour invoices and the card charges behind them
Billing → Payment MethodsThe cards saved for this workspace

The Dashboard's Credits & billing card shows your Available balance and settled charges for Today, Last 7 days and Last 30 days, by UTC day.

Charges & usage#

This page has three tabs:

  • Daily: settled credit charges by day, with Total Settled Charges, Total Items and Active Days at the top. Expand a day to see it by category.
  • Breakdown: what drove your settled charges, highest first. Group them by Model, Agent, Deployment, Component, User or Category. Open Vendor rate reference to compare each model's vendor base rates per million tokens.
  • Inspect: raw measured usage for one conversation over the last 30 days. Paste its ID under Look up a conversation and select Inspect. A visitor conversation's ID is the last part of its address in Inbox. The usage-rate estimate here isn't what was billed.

Daily and Breakdown cover all your settled charges, with no date filter. Each tab has a Download menu for CSV or Excel (XLSX).

Charges for verified outcomes appear as Verified Outcome, and reversed ones as Verified Outcome Reversal.

How credits are charged#

How credits are charged is shown on Billing → Overview, in the Used Credits card, and behind the info icon at the end of the Charges & usage tabs. help.ai sets it for your workspace, and it starts as Usage:

Charge basisWhat becomes a credit charge
UsageMeasured consumption, such as AI replies and crawled pages
Verified outcomesOutcomes accepted by billing verification
Usage + verified outcomesBoth

Usage and outcome evaluations are always recorded. The charge basis only decides which of them become charges.

Why recent numbers can change#

Charges are settled in runs. The info icon at the end of the tab row shows Settled through: the UTC time billing has settled up to. Activity after that time appears once it settles. Inspect shows raw usage up to now.

Your balance and overage#

Available Credits on Billing → Overview shows your current balance and the total credited. Used Credits shows all-time credit charges.

The balance can go below zero. Available Credits then says In overage, and the next credits you buy cover that amount first. To add credits, select Buy More Credits, or Top up on the Dashboard. See Buy credits or a plan.

Credit History#

Credit History shows your Current Balance, Total Added and Total Used, then every transaction with its Date, Type, Description, Amount and Balance after.

Invoices, payments and cards#

  • Latest Invoice on Billing → Overview shows your most recent invoice, with Download for its PDF and View All for the rest.
  • Invoices & Payments has two tabs. Invoices lists every invoice: View opens it online and PDF downloads it. Payments lists the card charges.
  • Payment Methods lists your saved cards, and your default card is tagged Default. Select Add Payment Method to add a card on Stripe's secure page. A card is also saved when you pay with it at checkout.

To remove a card, open its row menu on Payment Methods, select Remove and confirm. This can't be undone. Owners and Admins can add and remove cards.

Usage without charges#

Analytics → AI Usage shows quantities only, such as tokens, crawled pages, embedded vectors and generated images. It never shows credits. Use it to see how much you use, and Charges & usage to see what was charged.

To find what drives your charges, open Breakdown and group by Agent or Model, then compare models in Vendor rate reference.
