Share a hosted chat page

Share your deployment page at your-link.help.chat with a link, an email or a QR code.

A hosted page is a chat page that help.ai serves for you, at your-link.help.chat. Share it with a link, an email or a QR code, with no change to your website.

Two kinds of hosted page#

DeploymentIts page shows
Website widgetA simple page with your deployment's name, your Suggested replies (Chat widget → Welcome) as questions, and the chat bubble. A question opens the chat with it in the message box, ready to send or edit
Hosted page channelA full-screen chat, with a sidebar for your logo or page title, your links and the visitor's conversations

A website widget's page is a handy place to try the widget, or to share it before it's on your site. When the page itself is what you share, pick Hosted page under Channel as you create the deployment.

Open the page#

Every website widget and hosted page deployment has a page at its Link, filled in from the name when you create it.

  • Select Open on the deployment's row in Deployments, or Preview (Open page for a hosted page) at the top of the deployment. The page shows your saved changes, so select Save changes first.
  • The Install tab shows the full address under Hosted page, with a copy button.
  • The deployment must be Live. Otherwise the page says nothing is published at that address.

Change the address#

  1. Open the deployment, and under Settings → Basics, edit the Link.
  2. Select Save changes.

Changing it breaks links you already shared, so pick something short your customers will recognize. A Link:

  • has 3 to 63 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and single dashes, such as pricing-chat
  • can't be www
  • must be free. Portals and deployments share these addresses, and each one can be used only once. If it's in use, you'll see "This address is already taken."

Make a hosted page your own#

A Hosted page deployment's Settings tab has these settings:

SettingWhat it does
Hosted page → Page titleThe browser tab's title, and the sidebar heading when there's no logo
Hosted page → TaglineA line under the page name in the header at the top of the page
Hosted page → Search title, Search descriptionThe title and description search engines and shared links show. The search title also replaces the browser tab's title
Hosted page → Logo, Logo (dark theme)The image at the top of the sidebar, with its Alt text. The dark version shows when the visitor's device is in dark mode
Hosted page → FaviconThe icon in the browser tab
Hosted page → Hero image, Hero image (dark theme)A banner across the top of the page. Each picture has Upload and Use a link, with its Alt text beside it
Hosted page → Default theme, Theme switcherThe theme the page opens in. With Theme switcher on, visitors can change it from the header, and their choice is kept; with it off, the page always uses the default
Hosted page → Light primary colour, Dark primary colourThe accent colour for buttons and highlights in each theme, as a hex code such as #1d4ed8. Pick colours that white text reads well on
Page links → Navigation linksLinks in the sidebar, each with a Label and a URL. They open in a new tab
Page links → Link cardsBigger sidebar links, with a Description (optional) under the label
TabsHome, Help center and News tabs, as in the widget. See Add Home, Help and News tabs to the widget
Embedding → Embed in an iframeIframe code on the Install tab, to show the page inside your own website

You can add up to 100 navigation links and 100 link cards. A link with any field filled in needs a Label.

Fields you leave empty keep help.ai's defaults.

The chat itself, from welcome messages to features, comes from the Chat widget tab. On the page, the chat follows the page's light or dark mode.

Show the page inside your website#

Turn on Embed in an iframe (Settings → Embedding on a hosted page, Settings → Placement on a website widget) and select Save changes. The Install tab then gives you Embed with an iframe code.

Without it, a hosted page's Install tab has ES module embed, Classic defer embed and NPM (React / build pipeline) snippets, which place the chat as a block inside your own page.

If you set Allowed websites and the page or Preview can't chat, add the page's own address, such as https://pricing-chat.help.chat, to the list. See Secure a deployment: websites, limits and history.
