# Translate content and forms

> Add translated articles, collections and forms so visitors read them in their own language.

If your workspace has more than one language, you can translate the copy visitors read: content items, collection names and forms. Anything you leave blank falls back to your default language, field by field.

## Your workspace's languages

help.ai sets the languages for your workspace. Unless yours was set up differently, they're English, which is the default, plus French, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew. If a language you need is missing, contact the help.ai team.

Editors show a language bar with each language by its own name, such as Français. The default language is marked **default**, and a dot marks languages that already have a translation.

## Translate a content item

1. In **Content**, open a new or existing item.
2. In the language bar next to **Content**, select a language.
3. Enter the translated **Title**, **Description** and **Body**. Each blank field shows the default copy as a hint.
4. Select **Create content** or **Save changes**.

The collection, tags and settings are shared across languages. Change them in the default language.

## Translate a collection

In **Content**, select **Edit** on a collection, select a language next to **Collection**, enter a translated **Title** and **Description**, and select **Save changes**. Settings are shared across languages.

## Translate a form

1. In **Forms**, open the form.
2. In the language bar next to **Form details**, select a language.
3. Translate the **Title**, **Description** and **Submit button**. Under **Questions**, translate each question's **Label**, and its **Placeholder**, **Helper text** and **Options** where it has them.
4. Select **Save changes**.

Field keys, types, options and settings are shared across languages. Change them in the default language.

Arabic and Hebrew fields are written right to left.

## What visitors see

| Where | Language shown |
| --- | --- |
| Chat widget tabs and forms | The visitor's language when you've translated the field, otherwise your default language |
| Portals | Your default language |

To choose which languages the widget offers and how it picks one, see [Offer the widget in several languages](https://support.help.ai/deployments-and-the-widget/offer-the-widget-in-several-languages).

<Tip>
Finish the default-language version first. Questions, options and settings come from it, so changing them later can leave translations out of step.
